ESMT Berlin welcomed to Global Network for Advanced Management
ESMT becomes the German partner in network Network promotes exchange of students and joint case writing between 25 business schools
ESMT Berlin is the newest member of the Global Network for Advanced Management. Founded in 2012, the network consists of 25 business schools worldwide that collaborate in academic exchange and research. ESMT has become the organization’s German network partner.
The Global Network for Advanced Management promotes exchange between professors, students, and alumni, as well as in research on issues of global business. The network supports project work between students as part of a global team and organizes traditional exchanges such as the Global Network Weeks. In these bi-annual events, students can attend lectures and courses at other member universities. Among the participants in 2013 were Yale School of Management (USA), EGADE Business School (Mexico), Fudan University School of Management (China), IE Business School (Spain), Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (Israel), and UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School (Ireland).
October 2013: Economist "Which MBA?" ranking
ESMT Berlin enters the Economist "Which MBA?" ranking at 30th, placing 1st in Germany and 8th in Europe.
ESMT Berlin has been ranked for the first time in
of the top 100 full-time MBA programs. The business school entered the ranking at 30th, placing 1st in Germany and 8th in Europe. The Economist “Which MBA?“ global ranking The ranking of full-time MBA programs by The Economist is a popular indicator of the quality of MBA programs internationally. The ranking is based on several key components. In addition to general information about the school and the satisfaction of current and former students with the program, assessment for the ranking includes career progression. ESMT ranked first worldwide in class diversity and student assessment of campus facilities. ESMT's full-time MBA is comprised of 53 students from 27 countries. Forty per cent of the class is female. October 2013: ESMT Berlin receives right to grant PhDs
October 2013: Linus Dahlander named new KPMG Chair in Innovation
Linus Dahlander, Associate Professor at ESMT Berlin, has been named the holder of the newly established KPMG Chair in Innovation at the international business school in Berlin. KPMG AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft is supporting the chair to strengthen research and teaching in the area of innovation at ESMT.
Linus Dahlander currently investigates, among other things, the implications of increasingly open and distributed innovation processes for companies. His research focuses on how firms can benefit from external sources of innovation.

July 2013: Wissenschaftsrat reaccredits ESMT Berlin and recommends the right to grant PhDs
German Council of Science and Humanities (Wissenschaftsrat) has accredited ESMT Berlin for another ten years. In its final report, the Council recommends to the Berlin Senate that the international business school receive the right to confer doctoral degrees.
The process is now in the hands of the Berlin Senate, which commissioned the German Council of Science and Humanities with the year-long accreditation process and confers the right to award doctorate degrees. After receiving the right to grant PhDs, ESMT will continue to take an active role in the joint doctoral program Berlin Doctoral Program in Economics and Management Science (BDPEMS).
BDPEMS is a joint initiative of international scholars of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, WZB Berlin Social Research Center, and ESMT. The program integrates the closely linked areas of economics and business administration and is interdisciplinary in its teaching and research. It follows leading international standards and emphasizes rigorous analytical methods and quantitative analysis.
After completion of the three- to five-year program with a focus on econometrics, microeconomics, macroeconomics, and management science, candidates are conferred the internationally recognized degree of PhD. ESMT has been awarding scholarships within the BDPEMS since 2008.
